Can you use the SimpliSafe camera without monitoring?
You can use SimpliSafe without professional monitoring, but you won’t get full access to all of the system’s features. Without professional monitoring, you won’t have access to the SimpliSafe mobile app, won’t be able to view any camera footage, and if there is a break-in, you’ll have to call for help yourself.

The most obvious places to install a SimpliCam are near your main entrance and back entrance. And, while we would recommend covering these areas, it’s also a good idea to think outside the box.
Can SimpliSafe camera see through window?
Your camera can’t detect any motion. Pixel-based motion detection doesn’t have this issue and can work through windows. For example, the Simplisafe camera is a plug-in camera that uses IR motion detection and isn’t a good choice for window security.

Your camera’s motion detection range is 90 degrees left to right and downward, as well as straight out. This range cannot be changed. There is also a notification “quiet period” set up by default. This means you should only be receiving a push notification every five minutes, per location.
